Wildcats senior Uhiwai Wall finished with multiple goals to lead the green and white, while freshman Ava Shoosmith notched her own. The Cougars were playing defense for most of the match, as Konawaena defended strong at midfield to halt any opposing offense.
Next up, Kona (1-3-1) will share the pitch with Hilo at 2:30 p.m. Jan. 5 at Julian R. Yates Field, while Kea‘au will head to Kamehameha Schools-Hawai‘i to bout with the Warriors at 2 p.m. Jan. 5 on the road.
‘Riders sweep Dragons
Kealakehe soccer swept Honoka‘a over the weekend — with the boys winning 5-0, remaining undefeated on the season at 5-0-0. The team will next travel to Kea‘au to play the Cougars at 4 p.m. Jan. 9 on the road. The Dragons boys (0-2-1) will play Waiakea at 4 p.m. Jan. 10 on the road.
The girls team imitated the boys, beating the Dragons 5-3 for its second BIIF win of the season. The Waveriders girls (2-2-0) will next share the pitch with Waiakea at 2 p.m. Jan. 5 in a road match. The Honoka‘a girls (0-2-0) will host Hawaii Prep at 3 p.m. Jan. 5.
