WAIMEA — Hawaii Prep’s girls soccer team crushed neighbor Honoka‘a High 8-0 Friday afternoon on the Dragons’ home pitch.
Mixtli Lindsey-Robles notched a hat trick for Ka Makani, and teammate Madie Buczyna contributed two goals — which she scored both of within a five-minute window.
Nohea Lansdale, Kekai Lansdale and Caroline Betlach accounted for HPA’s three other goals. Goalkeeper Marcela Millan was credited with the shutout. Now 2-3-0, Ka Makani will host KS-Hawaii (3-0-2) on Tuesday.
The Dragons (2-5-0) will next face undefeated Waiakea High (7-0-0) in Wednesday in Hilo.
Hawaii Prep boys soccer additionally shut out its competition Saturday in Waimea, beating Makua Lani 9-0 in mercy-rule fashion. Dani Habiak and Skye Raymond posted a hat trick each, while teammates Kena Craven, Zach Montgomery and Kaulia Kapuniai scored one apiece. HPA’s (2-2-0) jam-packed January schedule continues against KS-Hawai‘i at 3 p.m. Wednesday at home. Makua Lani (0-4) next host Waiakea at 3 p.m. Saturday at Old Airport Park.
Hilo ousts Kona
Hilo girls soccer shut out Konawaena on Saturday at Julian R. Yates Field, winning 3-0 and earning its second straight victory against the green and white.
The Vikings (7-0-1) continue to sit near atop of BIIF Division I, with their next match against Kealakehe on Monday in Hilo. The Wildcats (2-5-1) will look to get back in the win column against Hawaii Prep at 2 p.m. Jan. 16 in Kealakekua.
Hilo and Kona boys also squared off later in the afternoon, with the Vikings winning again, 9-2. The Vikings (4-1-0) next matchup is against Kealakehe at 4 p.m. Tuesday at home. The Wildcats (1-5-0) next face Hawaii Prep at 4 p.m. Jan. 16 at Julian R. Yates Field.
Waveriders top Cougars
Kealakehe girls soccer crushed Kea‘au on Saturday at Waverider Stadium, winning 9-0 and getting its third win of the season.
The Waveriders (3-4-0) will next face Hilo for the second time this season at 2 p.m. Monday at Wong Stadium. Kea‘au (0-8-0) is still in search of its first win of the season, with its next match against Honoka‘a at 2:30 p.m. Thursday on the road.
