Columnist should be ‘ashamed’ of himself
Whoa, Kevin! Those are a lot of sharp elbows you’re throwing around (“Dismantle the teacher accreditation cartel,” Tribune-Herald, Jan. 5).
Demonizing 3 million people (members of the National Education Association), isn’t that what demagogues do? Are you a demagogue? You certainly talk like one.
You should be ashamed of yourself. Your childish rant should land you in after-school detention.
By the way, I am a public school teacher, and I work with excellent, dedicated teachers.
You coming around here and
insulting all of us is really a stupid move.
Go back to college and take an undergraduate business class so you can learn how to talk to people. While you’re at it, slither back to the Heritage Foundation, and don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

Ways to improve
immigration system
1. Have all applicants for any kind of entry visa apply at our foreign consulates, not at the border and not with any right to enter until some visa is granted.
2. Policy: If the immigrant is claiming that they have escaped some danger or persecution, that does not mean they have any reason therefore to come to the U.S., the U.K., etc. — there are 190 countries, and they would be safe in most of them. That said, many of those countries need immigrants, whereas we are overburdened.
3. Catch illegal immigrants when they attempt to function in society — e.g., at their employer, at the bank, when they want to register a car, etc.
4. Offer no services and no “blind eye” to illegals.
If we are the best place to be because everything is free for the poor, why wouldn’t all poor parents make the trip??? Those who want to help the world’s poor should do so with their time and money; they have no right to make the US a Santa Claus for the world’s poor, even if we had the money for that or had made it our social contract to do so — which we don’t have and haven’t done.

A friendly reminder
for fellow drivers
Dear motorists: Here’s a new year resolution for you.
See that little stick on the left side of your steering column? It is called a turn indicator.
Please use it.
Happy new year!
