During the search of the home, police allegedly recovered an unserialized 9 mm semiautomatic pistol (ghost gun), a .22 caliber Ruger pistol, a .22 caliber Model 622, a .22 caliber Savage Arms Model 101, ammunition, small amounts of cocaine-related paraphernalia and anabolic steroids.
A second warrant was served on a container located in the pocket of Darrell Silva during a pat-down search. In the container was 31.08 grams (about 1 ounce) of cocaine, within zip-packets typically used for sale/distribution.
Waylan Silva was released Saturday pending further investigation.
Darrell Silva was charged with manufacturing, purchasing or obtaining firearm parts to assemble a firearm having no serial number; two counts of first-degree promotion of a dangerous drug; two counts of third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug; and fourth-degree promotion of a harmful drug.
A bond was posted for Silva’s $110,000 bail, and his initial court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 13, in Hilo District Court.
The search warrant for the unserialized semiautomatic pistol stems from a physical domestic that occurred on Thursday, Jan. 4, on Wailoa Street in Hilo between Waylan Silva and a 26-year-old female. The victim was allegedly struck by Waylan Silva, causing a fractured jaw that required her to be medevacked to Oahu for treatment.
He was arrested and charged on a warrant for second-degree assault and abuse of a family household member. He was released after posting the $7,000 bail. His initial court appearance was on Friday in Hilo District Court, where the case was transferred to Hilo Circuit Court.
Police ask anyone with information or who may have witnessed the assault on Jan. 4 around 10:30 a.m., on Wailoa Street in Hilo to contact Detective Corina McLellan at (808) 961-2276 or via email at corina.mclellan@hawaiicounty.gov.
