Six taken to hospital after American Airlines flight has landing issue in Maui

An American Airlines flight from Los Angeles to Maui experienced a landing issue, resulting in one passenger and five flight attendants being transported to a hospital.

On Saturday, American Flight 271 “experienced an issue upon landing” at Kahului Airport, according to Derek Walls, American Airlines spokesman. The plane taxied to the gate and travelers deplaned as normal, but the passenger and flight attendants were taken to the hospital and later released.

The aircraft was taken out of service for inspection by American’s maintenance team. The flight was carrying 167 passengers and seven crew members.

No other details were available.

“The safety of our customers and team members is our top priority,” Walls said in an email.
