Gary Aganus, 91, of Papaaloa died Feb. 1 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Paauhau, he was a retired plantation field manager for the former Hamakua Sugar, worked for the former Paauhau Sugar and the county Planning Department, served on the Liquor Commission, played and coached baseball from youth to makule, diver/fisherman and gardener. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Saturday (April 27) at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa. Celebration of Life Mass at 10 a.m. Urn burial to follow at Honokaa Catholic Cemetery. Survived by daughter, Garolyn Akiona; son, Stacy Aganus; sister, Charlene (Michael) Sohriakoff; sisters-in-law, Jane Aganus, Caroline Hart and Kazue Hart; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Emma Kamila Faisca, 91, of Kapaau died March 8 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in North Kohala, she was a retired housekeeper and caregiver for the Von Holt and King families and member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hawi. Visitation 8:30-9:45 a.m. Saturday (April 27) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hawi. Memorial mass at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Halawa Catholic Cemetery. Casual attire. Survived by sons, David (Candice) G. Faisca of Hilo and John B. Jay N. Ishimoto, 87, of Hilo died April 7 at home. Born in Waialua, Oahu, he was a retired teacher at Hilo Intermediate School, retired member of Hawaii State Teacher’s Association, photographer for the Lyman Museum and founding member of the former Big Island Film Club. Private services held. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Survived by wife, Maureen Ishimoto of Hilo; sons, Guy K. (Rosemary) Ishimoto of Roswell, Ga., And Dean H. Calvert D. Mahuna, 73, of Waimea died April 3 at home. He was born in Paauilo. Graveside service 11:30 a.m. Sunday, April 28, at Kukaiau County Cemetery. Survived by sons, Jesse (Mandy) Richardson of Temecula, Calif., Jason (Kanani) Mahuna of Kaneohe, Oahu, and Joshua (Corina) Mahuna of Waimea; sisters, Valarie Santos of Sparks, Nev., and Iris Boteilho of Paauilo; hanai brother, Bert (Carol) Imada of Honokaa; six granddaughters; nephews, nieces, cousins, uncles and an aunt. Louise Ululani “Aunty China” “Aunty Ulu” ‘Anake Ulu” Morales, 78, of Hilo died March 24 at home. Born in Honolulu, and a Kailua High School alumna and Madrigal singer, she was a retired school administrator, was among initial group of parents who established Punana Leo o Hilo and helped found Ke Kula ‘O Nawahiokalani‘opu‘u in Kea’au, and member of Malia Puka O Kalani Catholic Church. Visitation 8:30-9:30 a.m. Saturday (April 27) at Malia Puka O Kalani Catholic Church. Eulogy at 9:45 a.m. Mass at 10 a.m. Luncheon to follow. Aloha attire. Mark Ken Nozaki, 70, of Keaau died March 3 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Laupahoehoe, he and was a retired anthurium farmer. Visitation 8-10 a.m. Saturday (April 27) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel.
