Michael Dennis Broderick, 72, of Kailua-Kona died April 29 in Kealakekua. Born in Mount Clemens, Mich., he was a security guard for Allied Universal Security Services. No services. Survived by wife, Rosalie Broderick of Kailua-Kona. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Jon Gordon Giffin, 82, of Waimea died May 1 at home. Born in Salt Lake City, he was a retired forestry and wildlife district manager for the state Department of Land and Natural Resources and field biologist at The Nature Conservancy Hawaii during retirement. Survived by wife, Geraldine Giffin of Waimea; daughter, Kimberley (Michael Pickard) Giffin Pickard of Waimea; son, Sean Giffin of San Diego; brothers, Gary (Jo) Giffin and Kent (Carolyn) Giffin of Salt Lake City; sisters, Laurel (Robert) Mouritsen and Jill Abrams of Salt Lake City; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Ruth Luka Liwai, 78, of Waikoloa died Nov. 30, 2023 at St. Francis Hospice in Honolulu. Born in Waihee, Maui, she retired from the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows, had worked for the Kona Village Resort, and founded the Boy Scouts of America Pack and Troop 120 with the Waikoloa Village Association. Visitation 8:30 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 65-1160 Kapiolani Rd. in Waimea. Celebration of life service at 9:45 a.m. Aloha attire; no flowers. Private interment. Survived by sons, Jack Liwai, Thomas Liwai, Jesse Liwai and Andrew Liwai; hanai son, Zachary Kapololu; brothers, Charles Rapozo, Solomon Namau‘u and Richard Rapozo; nine grandchildren and two hanai grandchildren.

Bebe Sachiko Ponce, 93, of Honokaa died March 16 at home. Born in Honokaa, she was a retired cook at Hotel Honokaa Club. Private services. No flowers.
