As a pioneer of basketball in Hawai’i, late Hall of Fame coach Jimmy Yagi led camps and clinics around the world, helping generations of aspiring basketball players enhance their skill sets to achieve their athletic goals.

Yagi spent 12 seasons as head coach of the Vulcans men’s basketball team, compiling a record of 252-126 in the late 1970s through the early 1980s.

He took the Vulcans to the NAIA national tournament three times, and more importantly, put UH-Hilo basketball on the map as the biggest game in town.

After coaching for the Vulcans, Yagi also taught youth basketball camps in Europe, alongside Kobe Bryant and Dirk Nowitzki.
