Albert Maldonado, Sr., 91, of Keaau died April 14 at Hilo Benioff Medical Center. Born in Ninole, He was a heavy equipment operator and truck driver for the former Hilo Coast Processing, volunteer firefighter, Hawaii National Guard veteran, hunter and former member of Hawaii Island Archery Club. Visitation 9 -10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 1, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park. Ilima Section. Survived by children, Albert (Sandrea) Maldonado Jr. of Pepeekeo, Alvin (Desiree) Maldonado Sr. of Kaneohe, Oahu, Abel (Darlene) Maldonado of Volcano, Judy Maldonado, Betty Jane “BJ” Walls and Teresa (Eric) Acasia of Hilo; sister, Betty Rodrigues of San Jose, Calif.; 18 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins. Evangeline “Eva” S. Pakele, 75, of Hilo died April 25 at Hale Anuenue Rehabilitation Center. Born in Honoluluu, she was the owner/operator of the former Eva’s Lunch Shop, delivered papers for the Hawaii Tribune-Herald, worked at Circle K Gas, Kawailani Shell and the former Green Onion and loving mother, wife and tutu. Celebration of life 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, May 25, at ill be held on April 25, 2024, in Hilo, at The Gospel of Alpha and Omega Church. Honolulu celebration 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday, June 2 at at Nimitz Beach Park. Survived by husband, Archbishop Jensen Pakele Sr.; sons, Jensen (Jocelyn) Pakele Jr., Jonathan “Amber” Pakele and Jacob “Jimmett” Pakele; sisters, Evelyn (Albert) Vieira and Vivian (Damien) Ho; brother, Warren Manabe; sisters-in-law Vivian (Calvin) Manabe, Bertha (Jeffrey Sr.) Pakele and Cynthia Manabe; godson, Shaun Flores; 10 grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
