Jill Akemi Bonga, 64, of Hilo died May 13 at home. Born in Hilo, she was an educational assistant at Kaumana Elementary School. Private services held. Survived by children, Jacy Cunningham and Cy (Angela) Cunningham; mother, Lei Kakugawa of Hilo; sisters, Ann (Keith) Fernandez of Anchorage, Alaska, and Lynn Kakugawa of Waimea; four grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Paul Richard Evander, 65, of Prescott Valley, Ariz., formerly of Kalapana, died May 14 at Houston Mesa Campground in Payson, Ariz. Born in Whittier, Calif., he was a finishing carpenter, skier, snowboarder, hang glider, paraglider and camping nomad. Private services. Survived by sisters, Christine (Peter) Loos of Keaau and Janet (Mark Wimer) Evander of College Park, Md.

Glenn Takao Shiraishi, 73, of Hilo, died May 24 at home. Born in Hilo, he was retired from Waiakea High School and a member of United Public Workers, Big Island Independent Bikers Motorcycle Club and former member of KOA Puna Motorcycle Club. Celebration of life at a later date. Survived by wife, Leola Pavao Shiraishi of Hilo; daughter, Nicole Shiraishi of Hilo; sister, Wendy Shiraishi of Honolulu; sisters-in-law, Rita Mae Pavao of Honolulu, Mokihana Pavao and Brenda (Romero) Domingo of Kalapana; brothers-in-law, Edwin Pavao Jr. of Pepeekeo and Russell (Tonia) Paio of Kona; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Nona Burnetta Wilson, 82, of Volcano died May 17 at home. She was a retired nurse, former assistant director of Ka‘u Hospital and director of the Kaiser-Permanente emergency room in Honolulu, former flight attendant for Aloha Airlines who danced in promotional tours for the airline, a professional hula dancer in Waikiki and in the legendary former Hawaiian Room of the Lexington Hotel in New York City. She was part of the “Lexington Ladies,” a group of Lexington Hotel entertainment alumni that starred in the 2022 Merrie Monarch Festival’s Ho‘ike and served as grand marshals for Merrie Monarch’s Royal Parade that year. Private services held. Survived by husband, Herb Wilson; son, Keoni Kramer; stepchildren Craig Wilson, Bryan Wilson and Nalani Wilson Hokowhitu; sister, Marie Kramer Johnson; brothers, Matthew and Rickey Kramer; two grandchildren and a great-grandson; seven nephews and a niece.
