Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency has scheduled a free two-day Community Emergency Response Team Basic Training (CERT) course from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, and Sunday, July 21, at the Old Kohala District Courthouse in Kapaau in North Kohala.

This is an in-depth Federal Emergency Management Agency training class to empower participants and their communities on how to best respond to an emergency or disaster.

This course, which is open to the public, could help save a life, according to Civil Defense.
