Petra Austria Lopez, 91, of Pahoa died June 24 at Hilo Benioff Medical Center. Born in Paniqui Tarlac, Philippines, she was a retired nursery worker for Anthuriums of Hawaii and deaconess for the Church of Christ (Iglesia Ni Cristo) in Keaau. Visitation only 9-11 a.m. Friday, July 12, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Burial to follow at Alae Cemetery (Section J, Row N, Plot 30). Casual attire. Survived by sons, Arsenio (Thelma) Lopez of Hilo, Carlos (Helen Grace) Lopez of Pahoa, Benigno “Benny” Lopez of Keaau, Ernesto (Grace) Lopez of Chicago and Gregorio “Greg” (Nancy) Lopez of Honolulu; daughters, Delia (Domingo) Ramos of Naalehu and Florida (Arnel) Antonio of Honolulu; sister, Isabell Ramos; 14 grandchilden and 10 great-grandchildren. David Sheldon Makuakane, 78, of Pahoa died April 27 at home. Born in Pahoa, he was a retired U.S. Army sergeant first class and Vietnam War veteran. Lawrence “Lefty” Masato Yanagisawa, 85, of Hilo died June 9 at Hilo Benioff Medical Center. Born in Pepeekeo, he was a retired branch administrator for state Department of Human Services Vocational Rehabilitation and Services for the Blind. He was a member of Taishoji Soto Mission in Hilo, Hilo AJA Bowling Club and Nisei Bowling Club of Hilo and Hawaii Air National Guard veteran.
