The Hawaii Island Humane Society is hosting a charity golf tournament fundraiser on Saturday for its facility and programs.

Putts for Paws invites new to pro-level golfers to play in a tournament while adoptable dogs are there right on the course to provide entertainment between holes.

The tournament will be a four-person scramble format on Mauna Lani Golf’s north course. Tickets are available for teams of four, parts of four or singles.

Participants and spectators can compete for prizes, meet adoptable dogs, and enjoy refreshments while supporting the lifesaving mission of HIHS.

To purchase a ticket to play, visit hihs.org. To contribute a prize for players, email lauren@hihs.org.

In 2023, HIHS saved the lives of over 98% of the animals that come through their doors at its Keaau shelter and in Kona at the Animal Community Center — facilitating 900 adoptions, performing 1,178 spay and neuter surgeries, intaking 1,195 pets and transferring 585 pets to shelter partners in the U.S.

The Putts for Paws Charity Golf Tournament will help these numbers rise and support the HIHS mission of preventing cruelty to animals, eliminating pet overpopulation and enhancing the bond between humans and animals.

Putt for Paws will have check-in at 9 a.m. with the tournament beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Mauna Lani north golf course.
