Police seek info on assault at Kona beach

Police are seeking the public’s assistance for leads on an assault that occurred in the early morning hours of June 2 at Magic Sands Beach on Alii Drive in Kailua Kona.

Between 5 a.m. and 5:45 a.m. that morning, a 53-year old Puna man was assaulted at Magic Sands Beach, police said. The suspect struck the victim in the face with an unidentified object several times resulting in substantial injury.

The suspect is described as a local Caucasian male, in his 20s or 30s, 5-feet 10-inches tall, with a medium build and shoulder length brown hair.
