Lee Ann Ashimine, 68, of Kohala died June 30 at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Kohala, she was a retired operations manager for Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union. Visitation 2-3 pm, blessing and eulogy 3-3:30 pm and fellowship to follow Saturday (July 27) at Michael and Lee Ann’s home 55-3235 Akoni Pule Hwy. Casual attire. Survived by husband, Michael Ashimine of Kohala; daughters Hulali (Jerry) Kahaikupuna of Kohala and Kawehi (Joshua) Castillo of California; mother, Madeline Gonsalves of Kohala; sister, Lanette Yamamoto of Kohala; brothers, Anthony (Renee) Gonsalves of Kohala and Neal (Shaurin) Gonsalves of Honokaa; four grandchildren; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Hatsue Carvalho, 100, of Hilo died on June 28 at home. Born in Kapoho, she was a kitchen helper for the former Hilo Hospital and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Visitation 5-6 p.m. Thursday (July 25) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Prayer service at 6 p.m. Casual attire. Survived by daughters, Sheila (Larry) Kelly of Kona, Gerri Lynn (Andrew) Kahili and Gail (Rayce) Bento of Hilo; sisters, Chiyoko Okiuye of Hilo and Shizue Sanekane of Pahoa; sisters-in-law, Charlene Carvalho and Barbara DeMello of Hilo; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Rita Florence Valentine Dolan, 88, of Star Lake, N.Y., formerly of Hilo, died June 30, at her daughter’s home in Hilo. Born in London, she was proprietor of Dolan’s Market in Star Lake, N.Y., worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse, N.Y., a live-in nanny, foster parent and former member of Star Lake Firemen’s Auxiliary, Clifton-Fine Figure Skating Association, American Legion Post 1539 Auxiliary, Clifton-Fine Senior Citizen’s Club and volunteer for Hawaii Care Choices. Memorial Mass 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo. Celebration of life at a later date in Star Lake, N.Y. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Kikuno Kay Kusano, 94, of Hilo died June 28 at Hilo Benioff Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was a retired baker for the former Lanky’s Pastries and sewing instructor at Kamana Senior Center. Judith Ann Motonaga, 83, of Volcano died July 5 at Hilo Benioff Medical Center. Born in Hibbing, Minn., she was a commercial fisherman, former vice-president at KTVA in Anchorage, Alaska.
