Intentionally set house fire injures 3

The Hawaii Fire Department said that a Friday house fire in Hawaiian Paradise Park that sent three members of a family of four to the Hilo Benioff Center with gasoline burns was intentionally ignited.

According to an HFD statement, fire, emergency medical services and police responded to a 3:30 p.m. alarm with arriving firefighters greeted by smoke coming from the bottom floor of the two-story home on 29th Avenue.

The fire, which was confined to one room, was extinguished and the three patients were taken by ambulance to the hospital. There was no word on their condition, but they were interviewed by fire investigators, who also inspected the home.

No arrests were made.
