Theresa “Vovo” “Gma” “Grams” Bernetta Oliveira Goodman, 84, of Hilo died June 27 at home. Born in Hilo, she drove school buses for Laupahoehoe Transportation Company and Roberts Hawaii and worked for 7-11, the former JC Penney, Chevron/Texaco and Hawaii County Economic Opportunity Council school lunch delivery. Visitation 9-11 a.m. Monday (July 29) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire. Survived by sons, John (Virginia) Goodman and Scott (Alicia) Goodman of Hilo, Emery (Tanya) Goodman of Tennessee; daughter, Catherine (Dane Flores) Goodman of Hilo; eight grandchildren, and 14 great- grandchildren; hanai great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. Ronald Norman Hall, 86, of Kailua-Kona died June 12 at home. Born in Ookala, he was a natural gas sales representative. Services in summer of 2025. Survived by daughters, JoAnna (Kyle Wawrzyniak) Hall of Silver Lake, Minn., and Rebecca Tereise of Kailua-Kona; sister, Dorothy Glenn of La Crosse, Wis.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Julita Josue Icalla, 68, of Waimea died July 15 at Queen’s North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Cagayan, Philippines, she was a retired farmer for Big Island Produce. Celebration of life 11 a.m. Sunday (July 28) at Spencer Beach Park. Survived by son, Leopoldo “Jojo” (Aurora) Icalla Jr. of Ilocos Sur, Philippines; daughters, Nerlita Galleta of Waimea, Noralyn Galleta of Honokaa and Loida Icalla of Waimea; four brothers and three sisters; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildern; nieces and nephews. Francis Herbert “Rico” Rodillas, 74, of Hilo died July 3 at home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired Hawaii County Police Department captain, former Securitas Security supervisor at Hilo International Airport, owned a lawn maintenance and yard service company, St. Joseph High School graduate who attended St. Martins College in Lacey, Washington, member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Antique Hawaiian Bottle Club and board member of Hawaii Classic Cruizers. Visitation 8-9 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Eulogy at 9 a.m. Mass at 9:30 a.m. Urn Committal to follow at Homelani Memorial Park Columbarium Nature Garden. Survived by wife, Martha A. Rodillas of Hilo; children, Francis (Rana) Rodillas of Puna, Shannon Rodillas of Las Vegas, Anson (Stacie Okuda) Botelho of Hilo, Troy Rodillas of Laupahoehoe, Tiffany (Thomas) Parel of Ookala and Kyle (Jasmine Thomas) Schuman of Tucson, Arizona; brother, Charles (Patricia) Rodillas of North Carolina; sister, Davon (Douglas) Lowrimore of Hilo; mother in-law, Betty Jean Botelho of Hilo; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; an uncle; nieces and nephews. Gilbert Hiroshi Uyeda, 86, of Pahoa died June 29 at home. Born in Kapoho, he was an anthurium farmer, retired from the former Hilo Medical Center, U.S. Army veteran and member of Puna Hongwanji Buddhist Temple and Higashi Machi Kumiai. Private services held. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts).
