Another local squad made the Big Island proud over the weekend, as Hawaii Little League District 4’s team won the Minor League Baseball State Championship on Wednesday on O‘ahu.

The championship game against the Maui District 3 All Stars was a nailbiter, as Ayden Arbeles scored on a shallow pop-fly walkoff hit by Cash Icari to win 6-5.

Earlier in the tournament, District 4 beat Maui District 3 by a score of 16-10 on July 27, and then handled Waipio District 7’s All Stars 12-5 on July 29 — setting the stage for the narrow title game.

West Hawaii Today and Hawaii Tribune-Herald would like to congratulate the boys for making the community proud!
