Maura Ramos Alicuben, 77, of Papaikou died July 16 at Hilo Benioff Medical Center. Born in Paniqui, Tarlac, Philippines; she was a candy maker for Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Co. and member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Hilo. Visitation 9-10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Committal service with burial to follow noon at East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 Pavilion. Janice “Nam” Kualii, 81, of Hilo died Aug. 12 at home. Born in Honolulu, she was secretary to the late radio personality Mel “Mynah Bird” Medeiros at KPUA Radio and referred to on air as “Dragon Lady”, retired civilian administrator at the Puna Police Station and organizaed the Ohana Kualii luau catering services, which served the Merrie Monarch Festival for 20 years. Eleanor Koonohiakala “Cupie” Muller, 98. of Honolulu, formerly of Mountain View, died July 14 in Honolulu. Born in Honolulu, she was a sales and parts associate for Sears Service Center and a traveler who touched many lives in many locations.
