Leonida “Nida” Echave Cumlat, 85, of Papaikou died Aug. 3 at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center in Hilo. Born in Bangui, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. she was a retired Candy Department factory worker for Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Co. and member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou. Mass at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park. Ilima Section. Anna Mae Jones, 86, of Naalehu died July 6 at home. Born in Pahala, she worked Hawaii. She was a loving mother and wife. Anna married the love of her life in 1963. Anna and Larry enjoyed almost 60 years of marriage and have two sons. Anna worked in hospitality, Bachelor Officer Quarters at Kilauea Military Camp, the former Jed’s Tavern and others. Visitation 8-9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at Naalehu Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mass at 10 a.m. Urn Committal to follow at Naalehu County Cemetery. Casual attire; flower lei welcome. Rita Ann Parent, 79, of Kailua-Kona died Aug. 13 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Oklahoma, she was a retired librarian and member of Friends of the Library Kona, Kona Bible Church and Seniors Citizens Program. Graveside service and burial 11:15 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery in Kailua-Kona. Survived by her daughter, Amy (Chris) James of Ocean View; a grandson. Shelby Ann Pawasarat, 68, of Ocean View died Aug. 4 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in California, she was a retail store clerk and member of the Republican Party and AARP. Private services. Survived by partner, Michael Hill of Ocean View; daughters, Andi Pawasarat-Losalio of Ka‘u, Hailey (Joshua) de la Torre of Captain Cook and Christina Griffin of Ohio; sister, Erin (Tom) Maguire of Oregon; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; a niece and nephew. David Kilbourne Reed, 74, of Hilo died Aug. 2 at home. Born in Danville, Pa., he was publisher and owner of Petroglyph Press, co-founder of Basically Books, a designer and creator of books, past president of Hilo Downtown Improvement Association, committee member of Destination Hilo and past chairman of Hawaii Redevelopment Agency. Celebration of life 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, at Wailoa State Park Pavilion No. 3. Survived by wife, Christine Reed of Hilo; 0son Alexander (Diana Yang) Reed of Maui; daughter, Stacey Reed of Hilo, brother, Stephen (Jan) Reed of Florida, sister, Judy Reed Beeman of Texas, a grandson and a nephew. Donna Lee Souza, 70, of Naalehu died Aug. 9 at Hilo Benioff Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, she was a homemaker, founder of Naalehu Country Riders and member of Hawaii Classic Cruisers.
