49ers WR Ricky Pearsall out at least 4 games after being shot

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall went on the reserve/non-football injury list on Monday after he was shot in the chest during a robbery attempt over the weekend.

Pearsall, 23, will miss at least the first four games of his rookie season following the incident in San Franciso’s Union Square on Saturday afternoon. To fill the vacancy on their 53-man roster, the 49ers signed offensive tackle Brandon Parker to a one-year deal.

According to the San Francisco Police Department, Pearsall was shot after a 17-year-old male tried to rob him. A struggle ensued, per SFPD, and both were shot.

Pearsall was upgraded to fair condition Sunday and released from the hospital later that day.

The suspect was arrested Saturday as he attempted to run from the scene, San Francisco police chief William Scott said. The alleged gunman also was hospitalized after the shooting — his condition was not immediately disclosed — and charges against him are pending.
