Gary Marzan Aquino, 51, of Keaau, died Sept. 13 at home. Born in Pangasinan in the Philippines, he was a guest runner with the Hilton Waikoloa Village and a member of the Tagalog Ministry of the Paradise Park Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Vistation to be held 9-10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4 at the Dodo Mortuary Chapel, with funeral at 10 a.m. and burial to follow at the Homelani Memorial Park. Casual attire. Survived by wife Fedeline Aquino of Keaau; sons Gabriel Aquino and Gary Aquino, Jr. of Keaau; stepsons Jaune Jose and J. C. Jose of Keaau; brothers Arnulfo (Noemi) Aquino and Carlito (Leny) Aquino of the Philippines; sisters Lalaine (Loreto) Manipon, Margi Aquino and Edna (Herbin) Navarro of the Philippines; brother-in-law Joseph Umaging of the Philippines; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Evelyn Nobue Kubo, 86, of Hilo, died Sept. 16. Born in Hilo, she was a retired cook for the Kaumana Baptist Church Keiki-Land preschool, a CNA at Life Care Center of Hilo and a member of Waiakea Uka Bible Church. Private services held, no flowers or koden (monetary donations). Survived by children Violet (Mark) Miyaji of Point Richmond, Calif., Garret (Debra) Kubo of Arlington, Tex., Randal (Dayle) Ishii and Peter Kubo of Hilo; brother-in-law Kiyoshi “Bob” (Barbara) Kubo of Hakalau; sister-in-law Yonsuk Nakamoto of Aiea; seven grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Don Shojun Nakamura, 91, of Hilo, died Sept. 3 at Hilo Benioff Medical Center. Born in Mountain View, he was a retired U.S. Army veteran. Private services held. Survived by daughter Kayleen Takase of Hilo; sisters Janice Turnburke of Keaau and Emogene (Gerald) Kimura of Kaneohe; sister-in-law Yvonne Nakamura of Hilo; granddaughters Darian (David) Finley of Kapolei and Deira Takase of Hilo; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dennis Kenji Yamamoto, 75, of Pepeekeo, died Aug. 25 at Hilo Benioff Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a retired welder for Aloha Machine and Welding and a U.S. Navy Vietnam War veteran.
