Ka‘u girls volleyball won its third consecutive match in dominant fashion over Laupahoehoe on Monday night, sweeping the Seasiders 25-8, 25-7 and 25-12 on the Hamakua Coast.
With the win, the Trojans moved to 8-4 on the season — firmly in third in the Big Island Interscholastic Federation (BIIF) Division II rankings. They’ll next be tested against Ka Umeke this weekend, slated for 10 a.m. Saturday in Pahala.
Laupahoehoe fell to 3-9. The Seasiders will have the remainder of the week off before returning to the floor against the Daggers on Monday night in Pahoa town.
Kohala 3, Ehunui 0
Kohala girls volleyball picked up a straight-sets win over south Kona squad Ehunui on Monday night in Kapa‘au. The Cowgirls’ victorious frames were won by scores of 25-6, 25-21 and 25-15.
With the win, Kohala moved to 6-7. The Cowgirls will enjoy this week off before returning to face Hawaii Preparatory Academy on Monday inside Kamuela’s Castle Gymnasium. Kohala has just four matches remaining in the regular season.
The ‘Io (2-10) will seek redemption against BIIF DII-leading Parker at 5 p.m. Thursday at Old Kona Airport.

West Hawaii Today and the Hawaii Tribune-Herald incorrectly reported the alma mater of state senator Dru Kanuha in Tuesday’s sports section. Kanuha attended Kealakehe High School, not Konawaena.
Both papers regret the error.
