WAIMEA — It was business as usual for Kamehameha Schools-Hawai‘i football on Saturday afternoon against Hawaii Preparatory Academy.
The visiting Warriors made the trip north from Kea‘au to Waimea to take on their top Big Island Interscholastic Federation Division II opponent in Ka Makani, beating the hosts 28-7. It was KS-Hawai‘i’s seventh straight win.
HPA struck first with All-Hawai‘i running back Alaka‘i Aipia punching it in from six yards out, but it was all KS-Hawai‘i from there. Receiver Cole Walker hauled in a 57-yard bomb from Warriors quarterback Adam Perry to tie the game early in the second quarter. In the second half, running back Dallas Enriquez secured a rushing touchdown from five yards out to give his team the lead.
The fourth quarter was the Xander Hoopai show, as the KS-Hawai‘i running back secured a 36-yard and 7-yard score to put the game out of reach for Ka Makani.
Collectively, the Warriors posted 458 yards of net offense — with 340 of it rushing. Hoopai finished with 237 yards and two scores, while backfield teammate Enriquez rushed for 70 with a touchdown.
Perry kept things conservative in the passing game — only passing for 118 yards but completing eight of his 14 attempts for a touchdown throw. Walker was Perry’s top receiver with 90 yards.
With two regular season games remaining and comfortably leading BIIF DII, KS-Hawai‘i is averaging an impressive 38.3 points per game and allowing less than 12. The Warriors will next play Pahoa again, slated for 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Kea‘au.
HPA sits in second overall in BIIF DII at 4-2 — scoring an average of 31 points per game and allowing 18.5. Ka Makani will next host Ka‘u at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hawaii Preparatory Academy.
Hilo 22, Kea‘au 21
Hilo football claimed its second-place spot in BIIF Division I after a nailbiter victory over Kea‘au on Friday night at Wong Stadium. The Vikings escaped the Cougars 22-21.
With the win, Hilo holds the tiebreaker over Kea‘at at 3-3 — automatically placing them in the No. 2 spot in the division standings behind unbeaten Konawaena. Kea‘au is now in third in BIIF DI.
The Vikings will have the next week off before taking the field on Oct. 18 against Kealakehe at Waverider Stadium. The Cougars will also next face the Waveriders, but will square off at 6 p.m. Friday in Kea‘au.
Kohala 42, Ka‘u 28
Kohala football picked up another victory in the 2024 season in a 42-28 bout with Ka‘u on Saturday in Kapa‘au.
The Cowboys avenged the Trojans after falling to them 23-8 on Sept. 7.

Per ScoringLive, Saturday was Kohala’s highest-scoring outing since Sept. 2015, where the Cowboys beat Pahoa 42-14.
Now at 2-5 overall and 2-4 in BIIF Division II, the Cowboys have three scheduled regular season matchups remaining. They’ll next host Honoka‘a at 2 p.m. Saturday at Kohala High School.
Ka‘u (1-5) will now set its sights to Hawaii Prep — slated to take on Ka Makani at 2 p.m. Saturday in Waimea.
Honoka‘a 45, Pahoa 0
Honoka‘a football posted an impressive shutout victory over Pahoa on Friday in Honoka‘a town, winning 45-0.

It was the second time the Dragons beat the Daggers — also routing them 51-8 on Sept. 5. Honoka‘a improved to over .500 in the BIIF (4-3), while Pahoa dropped to 1-5 — near the bottom of BIIF DII’s standings.
The Dragons, who are averaging an impressive 30.8 points per game in 2024, will next face Kohala on Saturday afternoon in Kapa‘au. The Daggers will have a tough test in KS-Hawai‘i in a quick turnaround at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Kea‘au.
