Sachiko Imaizumi, 91, of Honolulu, formerly of Hilo, died Sept. 22 at Kuakini Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Hilo, she was a retired medical records technician for the former Hilo Hospital and member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin, Buddhist Women’s Association and Kyodan Choir, Kinney Heights Kumiai, Kamana Senior Center and Red Hat Society of Hilo. Visitation 3-4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service at 4 p.m. Graveside committal service 11:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 28, at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 pavilion. Casual attire. Survived by son, Owen (Kim) Imaizumi of Honolulu; daughter, Jill (Jon) Kobayashi of Honolulu; sister-in-law, Tsukie “Kay” Imaizumi of Hilo; four grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Norman M. Kai, 83, of Pahala died Oct. 5 at Ka‘u Hospital. Born in Pahala, he was a retired journeyman carpenter for Carpenters Union Local 745. Private services held. Survived by wife, Dorothy Louis of Pahala; sons, Daniel (Abby) Kai of Arizona and Darren (Rachel) Louis Sr. of Kona; brother, Randy Kai of Waiohinu; sister-in-law, Juann Kai of Hilo; three grandchildren and a great-granchild; nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Benito Eric Llanes, 73, of Mililani, Oahu, died Sept. 15 in Kailua-Kona. Born in Honolulu, he retired Department of Defense bus driver and U.S. Air Force veteran. Services 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at St. Anthony Church, 640 Puuhale Rd. in Honolulu. Burial 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery in Kaneohe. Contact family for more info. Dwight Yoji Matsuyama, 71, of Oahu, formerly of Kona, died May 25 at Maui Memorial Hospital. A 1970 graduate of Konawaena High School, he co-owned Matsuyama Construction and Matsuyama Brothers Trucking, worked for Drayko Construction, Del Monte and Honsador, and enjoyed gardening, cooking, traveling and quality time with family and friends. Celebration of life held Sept. 8 in Kailua-Kona. Survived by wife, Taina Matsuyama; children, Dexter, Aaron, Kalei and Becky; daugters-in-law Adrenne and Leilany; son-in-law Ben, hanai children Jenny, Hana and Greis and their spouses, Leon “LT”, Neil, and Sinica; brother, Boyd; sisters-in-law Sharon and Iola; grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Carole Miyoko Tohara, 99, of Hawi died Sept. 30 at home. Born in Mahukona, she was a self-employed barber, primary teacher and cook at the former Jinho’s in Kawaihae, and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kohala Senior Citizens Club and Kohala Kenjin Kai. Visitation 7:30-9:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Hawi. Funeral service at 9:30 a.m. Burial noon at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery in Kailua-Kona. Casual attire. Survived by sons, Ryan Tohara of Honolulu, John (Kayce) Tohara of St. George, Utah, and Marshall (Linda) Tohara of Kailua-Kona; daughter, Shari (Paul) Tohara of Kailua-Kona; brother, George (Harriet) Kihara of Honolulu; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Sharon Sumie Yoshizumi, 75, of Hilo died Sept. 17 at home. Born in Hilo, she was retired from the county Department of Parks and Recreation, co-owner of Wax Wise Auto Detailing and member of Hilo Meishoin, HGEA-Retired and Piihonua Community Association.
