Mayor Mitch Roth encourages residents to apply for open positions on several of the county’s boards and commissions.
This is a valuable chance for community members to get involved in local government and directly impact decisions that shape Hawaii Island’s future.
“Serving on a board or commission is a rewarding way to support our island and make a real difference for our communities,” Roth said in a press release. “We invite all residents with a passion for public service to consider applying.”
Current openings are available on the following boards and commissions:
— Tax Board of Review;
— Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Commission (PONC);
— Cultural Resources Commission;
— Salary Commission;
— Youth Commission;
— Water Board;
— Police Commission;
— Committee on the Status of Women;
— Merit Appeals Board;
— Fire Board of Appeals;
— Game Management Advisory Commission (GMAC);
— Kailua Village Design Commission;
— Liquor Commission;
— Leeward Planning Commission;
— Windward Planning Commission;
— Fire Commission.
Residents who join these boards will have the chance to contribute to important county initiatives and help guide policies on issues that matter to the island community.
