In celebration of Mu‘umu‘u Month, Wailoa Center will exhibit “Mu‘u + Mo‘olelo,” a multimedia exhibit of mu‘u, photographs and stories — your stories!
The community is invited to share their favorite mu‘umu‘u in a variety of ways alongside their own mo‘olelo, or stories, all in celebration of this iconic garment.
Inspired by the stories and the community involvement that came out of the last mu‘u exhibit at Wailoa Center in 2023, this exhibit will shine the spotlight on its participants.
Want to get involved?
There are two ways to participate: (1) Participants can share a mu‘umu‘u for display or (2) send in a recent photo of themselves, friends or family dressed in mu‘umu‘u.
When registering, all participants will be asked to share a little about their own stories about their mu‘umu‘u and their own inspiration wearing mu‘umu‘u.
All participants must register by Friday, Dec. 20.
For more information or to register, visit www.wailoacenter.com/muumuu or call Wailoa Center at (808) 933-0416.
The exhibit will be on display at Wailoa Center Jan. 10 to Jan. 30. Physical mu‘umu‘u will be displayed alongside submitted photographs and mo‘olelo for a celebratory multimedia exhibit.
