Born in Kohala, he was a retired landscaper for Paukea Bay Ranch and previously was a laborer for Kohala Plantation, nursery worker in the Cooling Plant in Waimea and logger/woodchipper for Capital Woodchipper Co. in Hamakua. George Douglas Coit, 79, of Keaau died Nov. 10 at Hilo Benioff Medical Center. Born in North Kohala, he was a retired diesel and construction equipment mechanic, retired U.S. Army Reserves staff sergeant, master upholster and member of Big Island VW Club-Hilo Chapter.
