Waiakea soccer traveled to Waimea on Wednesday to take on Hawaii Preparatory Academy. The two schools split their matchups between the boys and girls.

In the first matchup of the afternoon, Ka Makani boys won 1-0, with Kauila Kapuniai scoring the lone goal. HPA improved to 4-1 overall, winning its second straight. The Warriors dropped to 2-4-1.

Following the boys match, the Waiakea girls won 7-0, staying unbeaten at 8-0-0. Ailani Franklin notched a hat trick, while teammate Daye Yanazaki scored two goals. Kalia Franklin and Ava Herr also scored one each.

Waiakea has out-scored opponents 49-4 this season. Ka Makani dropped to 4-3-0.

HPA boys will next play Hilo at 1 p.m. Saturday on the road, while the girls will play the Lady Vikings that same afternoon at 3 p.m. at Wong Stadium.

The Warriors boys squad next plays Konawaena at 5 p.m. Saturday in Kealakekua, while the girls will face the Lady Wildcats that same night at 7 p.m. at Julian R. Yates Field.
