A pair of East Hawaii power outages on Wednesday and Thursday were not related, according to Hawaiian Electric.
At about 9 a.m. Wednesday, roughly 350 Hawaiian Electric customers in the area around the intersection between Highway 11 and Kamehameha Avenue lost power.
The outage took about 30 minutes to resolve and was caused by “equipment which has since been replaced,” according to HECO spokeswoman Kristen Okinaka.
On Thursday, another outage took place at 6:13 a.m., leaving about 1,400 customers in portions of Panaewa, Keaau and Kulani without power. Power was restored to most customers within an hour, and the incident was fully resolved by Thursday afternoon.
Okinaka said the
two incidents were not connected, but the cause of the Thursday outage is still under investigation.
