Laurie Leiko Izumi, 72, of Hilo died Feb. 25 at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center in Hilo. Born in Hilo, she was an account clerk for the state Department of Liquor Control. Wayne Hidemi Kaneshiro, 80, of Hilo died Jan. 30 at a private care home in Hilo. Born in Kukuihaele, he was a retired business teacher at Hilo High School, member of Hawaii State Teachers Association, Hawaii Business Educators Association, former member of 1023 Golf Club and Homestead “C” Kumiai Softball, and formerly He also formerly coached basketball at Molokai, Honokaa and Hilo high schools and assisted son David with the University of Hawaii at Hilo women’s basketball team.
