HILO — Hilo boys volleyball got the best of crosstown rival Waiakea Friday night inside the Hilo Armory, beating the Warriors in four sets. The Vikings remained perfect on the season, moving to 5-0. Waiakea lost its first match of the year, falling to 2-1.
Hilo won the first two sets 25-20 and 25-17, but the Warriors avoided the sweep with a narrow 25-22 third-frame victory. The Vikings came into the fourth set with vengeance and closed the match with a 25-21 win.
Hilo will enjoy the week off before returning to the court against the Daggers on March 24 in Pahoa town. Waiakea next faces Christian Liberty Academy on March 24 in Kea‘au.

KSH 3, CLA 0
Kamehameha Schools Hawai‘i boys volleyball improved to 4-1 in the early season after sweeping CLA in Kea‘au. The Canefire fell to 1-2.
The winning Warriors played complete volleyball on both sides of the net, winning by scores of 25-7, 25-10 and 25-13. It was the second straight-sets sweep of the season for KSH.
The Warriors return against Connections on March 25 in Hilo town, while CLA will look to get back in the win column against Waiakea on March 24 at home.

Kea‘au boys volleyball had a successful business trip to the Hilo Armory on Saturday morning to take on hosting Connections. The Cougars put together their best performance of the year, winning in straight sets to earn their first victory of the young 2025 season (1-5).
The winners secured their sets by scores of 25-14, 25-5 and 25-17.
Kea‘au will enjoy the next week-plus off, next playing March 27 against Hilo inside the Cougars’ gymnasium.
Connections fell to 0-5 — still having yet to win a set this season, The ‘Io will return March 25 against east-side powerhouse KSH in Hilo town.

Kanu 2
Kohala boys volleyball earned a home win against the visiting Kanu o ka ‘Aina on Saturday morning in Kapa‘au. The Cowboys won in five sets.
The set scores were 25-22, 25-17, 25-23, 25-21 and 15-8.
The black and gold (1-2) will be back in action on March 28 against Konawaena inside Ellison Onizuka Gymnasium. Kanu is still winless at 0-2, and will next play March 25 against Kealakehe in Kona town.
