Virginia Lawson Halliday, 88, of Kailua-Kona died Feb. 3 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Dermott, Ark., she was a retired teacher and counselor for Kealakehe and Konawaena schools and founding member of Kona’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Annual Celebration, member of Hawaii State Teachers Association-Retired, AARP Volunteers and Unity Church Kona. Private interment services 11 a.m. Thursday, April 10, at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery. Public celebration of life 3 p.m. at Old Airport Beach Park Makaeo Pavilion, followed by refreshments and her favorite activities, line and ballroom dancing. Green attire and dancing shoes suggested.
