Almeda White Crozier, 90, of Kailua-Kona died Feb. 28 at home. Born in Boise, Idaho, she was a health aide at Konawaena Elementary School. No services at this time. Survived by sons, Scott (Nalani) Crozier of Kailua-Kona and Lyle (Teri-lyn Silva) Crozier of Kealakekua; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Virginia Lawson Halliday, 88, of Kailua-Kona died Feb. 3 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Dermott, Ark., she was a retired teacher and counselor for Kealakehe and Konawaena schools and founding member of Kona’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Annual Celebration, member of Hawaii State Teachers Association-Retired, AARP Volunteers and Unity Church Kona. Private interment services 11 a.m. Thursday, April 10, at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery. Public celebration of life 3 p.m. at Old Airport Beach Park Makaeo Pavilion, followed by refreshments and her favorite activities, line and ballroom dancing. Green attire and dancing shoes suggested. Survived by daughter, Wilda Payton of Phoenix; son, Richard Payton of Phoenix; stepdaughter, Phyllis Grant of Fairbanks, Alaska; hanai son, Mark Costa; brother, Don Glover of Dermott, Ark.; sisters, Barbara (Michael) Littlejohn of Lansing, Mich., Esther (Tunde) Fahn of Menomonie, Wis., and Carlotta (Terence) Hallamon of West Bloomfield, Mich.; nieces and nephews. Keaweikekahiali’iokamoku “Awe” Kawailima, 20, of Keaukaha died Dec. 29. He was a carpenter for HTS Co., hunter, fisherman and diver. Celebration of life at a later date. Chishiko Takata, 101, of Pahala died March 28, 2024, in Honolulu. Born in Pahala, she was a homemaker and member of Pahala Hongwanji Buddhist Temple. Cheryl Kaleimomi Taupu, 69, of Oleiomoana Homesteads died Jan. 28 at Maui Memorial Hospital. Born in Kealakekua, she was a social worker and ran social services organizations including West Hawaii AIDS Foundation, Bridge House Inc. and Salvation Army’s Intervention Services Shelter, and caretaker of Halau Maluhia in Keei. Private services later this year. Survived by husband, Teikivaeoho Teikiheepo aka Tava Taupu; daughter, Helene Taupu of Oleiomoana Homesteads; son, Rio Taupu of Oleiomoana Homesteads; sister, Melamie Grace of California; hanai daughter, Andi Pawasarat-Losalio of Ka‘u; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Glenn “Kako” Louis Kelena Vasconcellos, 76, of Hilo died March 6 at Hilo Benioff Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a hair stylist/cosmetologist and proprietor of Glenn “V” Reflections Hair Salon, kumu hula of Halau O Ke Anuenue, hairstylist for the Merrie Monarch Royal Court, previously involved with the Hilo Jaycees’ Miss Aloha Hawaii Scholarship Pageant and a former tax auditor for the state and county Real Property Tax offices.
