Waiakea 13, Kealakehe 0
Waiakea baseball got back in the win column after tying with Kamehameha-Hawaii earlier in the week, blanking the visiting Kealakehe Waveriders on Saturday afternoon in Hilo town. The winning Warriors elevated themselves to 4-1-1 on the season, while Kealakehe fell to 1-4.
The paper was unable to obtain a stat sheet for this game by deadline.
Waiakea will aim to keep building on this win — next slated to rematch KSH on Tuesday afternoon at home.
The ‘Riders will attempt to get back on track against Hilo on Thursday in Kailua-Kona.
Waiakea 11, Kealakehe 3
Waiakea softball won its fourth straight game after routing Kealakehe 11-3 on Saturday in Hilo town. It was the second time this season that the Lady Warriors beat the Lady Waveriders.
Waiakea posted 14 hits to Kealakehe’s three. Lady Warriors Lexi Santiago and Meghan Spencer logged a game-high three hits, including a home run from Santiago — her second this season. Santiago leads her team in hits and runs.
Santiago’s teammates — Keani Kaneshiro, Tehani Chinen and Kaelyn Sewake — added two hits apiece. Waiakea’s Kaitlyn Miura and K. Kelekolio additionally had one hit each.
Spencer was also the Lady Warriors’ primary pitcher, lasting 6.0 innings while allowing three hits, two runs and striking out seven. She leads the team in innings pitched and wins. Miura also saw time on the mound.
Emalia Emmsley led Kealakehe with two hits, including a double. Rhianna Joaquin secured the Lady ‘Riders other hit.
Emmsley was Kealakehe’s only pitcher in the outing, allowing 14 hits and 10 runs while striking out seven. Emmsley leads her team in innings pitched, strikeouts, doubles, triples and hits.
Thus far in 2025, Waiakea has outscored opponents 53-12 through five games. At 4-1 overall, the Lady Warriors’ next test will be a rematch in Hilo on April 9 on the road. When the two teams last met, the Lady Vikings handed Waiakea its only loss of the season after winning 4-1.
The Lady Waveriders (2-2) next face Hilo on Thursday at home. The matchup will serve as a test for the defending BIIF DI champions, as the Lady Vikings have not lost in 2025.
HPA 10, Ka‘u 0
Hawaii Preparatory Academy baseball won its second game of the week after routing Ka‘u 10-0 on Saturday in Pahala. Ka Makani moved to 4-2, while the Daggers are still in search of their first win at 0-5.
HPA second baseman Nishiki Iwai led the way with four hits and six RBI, followed by teammate shortstop Ed Lustik with three and right fielder Asher Anderson, first baseman Owen Smith second baseman Lex Ni with two each. Left fielder Leon Kikukawa also had a hit for HPA.
Iwai and Ni also pitched for Ka Makani, combining for 10 strikeouts and one hit allowed in the shutout.
The Trojans had just one hit and used two pitchers.
HPA next plays Kohala on Wednesday in Kapa‘au, while Ka‘u will be on the diamond against Pahoa on Wednesday on the road.
Honoka‘a 2, Pahoa 0
Honoka‘a baseball reached its sixth win of the season after blanking Pahoa 2-0 on Saturday on the Hamakua Coast. It was also the Daggers’ first loss of 2025. The winners got their revenge, as they fell to the Daggers 2-0 on March 13 in Pahoa town.
The Dragons posted four hits to Pahoa’s three. Honoka‘a’s Isaac Derego led the way with a game-high two hits, including a double. Teammates Jayden Salazar and Josyah Napoleon-Umeda made up the rest of the Dragons’ hits with one apiece.
Napoleon-Umeda and Salazar were also on the mound for Honoka‘a. Napoleon-Umeda earned the win after allowing three hits, no runs and striking out six across 108 pitches (6.6 innings). Salazar earned the save.
Salazar leads his team in hits, runs, triples, wins saves and strikeouts.
George Kocher, Cash Cohen and K. Clear each smacked one hit for the Daggers. Tripp Kahsen was Pahoa’s sole pitcher on the mound, throwing for 85 pitches and allowing four hits and two runs. He also struck out eight. Kahsen leads his team in innings pitched, wins and strikeouts.
Now at 6-1 overall and winning four straight, the Dragons will look to continue their streak with their matchup against Kohala on Saturday in Kapa‘au.
The Daggers (3-1) hope to redeem themselves against Ka‘u on Wednesday in Pahoa town.
KSH 17, Ka‘u 2
Kamehameha-Hawaii softball bounced back in a big way after falling to Pahoa earlier in the week, routing the visiting Ka‘u Lady Trojans 17-2 on Friday afternoon in Kea‘au.

Improving to 1-1 overall, the Lady Warriors will get a chance at redemption against the Lady Daggers this afternoon in Pahoa town. Ka‘u (0-2) will also next visit the Daggers on Wednesday afternoon.
