Robert “Bob” Floyd Bean, 98, of Kailua-Kona died April 1 at home. Born in Salt Lake City, he was a retired state Department of Education liaison for West Hawaii, taught and was acting principal at Laupahoehoe High and Elementary School, vice principal at Honokaa High and Elementary School, principal for Ka‘u High, Pahala Elementary, and Hilo Intermediate schools, first principal for Waiakea High School and U.S. Navy World War II Pacific Theater veteran.
