The Big Island Interscholastic Federation (BIIF) hosted its sixth track and field meet of the 2025 season on Saturday at Kea‘au High School.
Konawaena junior Violet Schaut, who is putting together one of the best sprinting seasons in BIIF history, had another dominant week. Schaut won the girls 100-meter spring (12.16s), 200-meter sprint (25.68s) and the 400-meter run (58.06). She was also part of the dominant relay team of Kaella Masters, Jazmin Fillmore and Dasha Kala, who won their sixth 4×100-meter race of the season in 49.19 seconds.
In 20245 alone, Schaut has won 13 individual races and 21 in total.
Fillmore also had a great day individually, winning the girls 100-meter hurdles in 15.91 seconds — good enough for the fourth-best in the state this season. She also won the 300-meter hurdles in 47.38. The sophomore has won four individual hurdles races this season.
Kamehameha-Hawaii sophomore Judah Kanoa won the boys 110-meter hurdles for the sixth time this season, finishing in 15.22 seconds.
Hawaii Preparatory Academy junior Christian Rhodes notched a personal record in the boys 300-meter hurdles, finishing in 42.07 seconds. The time was recorded as the 13th-fastest in the state. Rhodes also won the boys long jump (20-06.50) and was part of the winning 4×400-meter relay team of Zane Van Natta, Jack Soon-Ludes and Nate Donovan — who finished in 3:43.09.
Kealakehe speedster Jackson Rigg once again won the boys 100-meter (11.57s) and 200-meter (23.00s) races, adding to his collection of eight individual wins this season. The junior was also part of the 4×100-meter relay team of Kekaimalu Macabio, Carl Trinidad and Kainalu Macabio, who won with a time of 43.96 seconds.
In the 1,500-meter race, Hilo senior Kekaihulali Halpern won the girls in 4:54.32 and Waiakea senior Austin Mohica clinched the boys in 4:17.07. Mohica’s race was a personal-best time and recorded as the 17th-fastest in the Hawaiian Islands.
HPA junior Kirra Geesey won the girls 800-meter race for the fourth time in 2025, finishing in 2:27.40. Geesey was also part of the winning 4×400-meter relay team of Delphine Fanelsa, Naomi DeMille and Zoe Buehring (4:25.30) and the 4×800-clinching group of DeMille, Kate Schwarting and Wynter Radey-Morgan (10:10.97).
Hilo rounded out the relays highlights, as the boys team of Rancin Teeples, Tavyn Buyuan, River Flynn and Tai Hess finished with the 12th-fastest 4×800 time in the state at 8:50.75 — beating second-place finisher HPA by nearly 10 seconds.
In the boys 800-meter race, Waiakea junior Shane Tominaga won for the second time this season by finishing in 2:02.56 — a personal best and the 14th-fastest in the state.
The island’s strong sibling pair of Amari and Analei Wiedemeier made noise once again, as Amari won the boys triple jump (40-05.00) and Analei clinched the girls discus (96-03). The duo has won a combined 12 individual events this season.
HPA senior Elaina Head won the girls high jump (5-04.00) and triple jump (33-11.00) — adding to her collection of 15 individual event wins in 2025.
Hilo freshman Wai Krismunando won the girls shot put for the third time this season, throwing a personal-best distance of 10.78 meters (25-04.50).
Hilo junior Cyrus Jarrett won the boys pole vault for the second straight week, launching a personal-best 3.35 meters (11-00.00). The vault was also the 27th-best in the state this season.
The season will resume this upcoming Saturday at HPA’s track. The field events will begin at 9 a.m., and the running events will start promptly at 10 a.m.
The BIIF Championships will be held May 3 at Waverider Stadium.
