Benjamin Obena Bacawag, 90, of Kailua-Kona died April 8 at home. Born in Sibalom, Antique, Philippines, he worked on the grounds of several properties along the Kona-Kohala coastline, retiring from Kona Village Resort, enjoyed shoreline fishing, gardening, farm-to-table cooking and was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church. Eunice Leina‘ala Hashimoto, 89, of Waiohinu died March 29 in Hilo. Born in Pahala, she was retired head custodian at Naalehu Elementary and Intermediate School, volunteered at the school after retirement, was an active member of the USTA Tennis League, ILWU Bowling League, KMC Bowling League, Naalehu Senior Club, Naalehu Senior Nutrition Program and Kauaha‘ao Church.
