Elizabeth “Betty” Carvalho, 80, of Honokaa died Friday, July 6, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Kalopa, Honokaa, she was a retired Industrial Relations Office supervisor with the former Paauhau and Hamakua Sugar Companies. She was also a member of the Honokaa Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Honokaa Senior Citizens, Honokaa Saranay Club and the Visayan Club of Honokaa. Friends may call at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa on Thursday from 5-9 p.m., where a Mass will be held at 7 p.m. Friends may also call at the Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo on Friday from 9-11 a.m., where a prayer service will be held at 11 a.m., followed by burial at the Hawaii Veterans Cemetery #2.
