l Haku Mele, a Hawaiian songwriting retreat: Hawaiian music and language experts offer a three-day retreat to create original Hawaiian compositions. It will be Aug. 3-5 in Kilauea Military Camp’s Koa Room.
l A lecture titled “Monumental Architecture of Micronesia” will be given at 7 p.m. Aug. 7, in the Kilauea Visitor Center Auditorium.
l Ukulele lessons will be held on Aug. 8, from 10 a.m.-noon on the Kilauea Visitor Center lanai.
l Na Hoku Hanohano award-winning singer and ukulele player Diana Aki, perform Aug. 15, from 6:30-8 p.m.
l The United States Mint will feature Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on a commemorative 2012 quarter-dollar coin to be released Aug. 29. Join mint representatives and coin enthusiasts for a presentation on American currency at 7 p.m., Aug. 28, in the Kilauea Visitor Center Auditorium.
