Kona-born slack-key artist and Hawaiian Renaissance man George Kahumoku Jr. is the subject of a documentary film directed by David Barry titled “Seeds Of Aloha,”
The film, which chronicles the extraordinary life of the multiple Grammy- and Hoku-winning master slack key guitarist, songwriter, world-traveling performer, high school teacher and college professor, artist and sculptor, storyteller and writer, farmer and entrepreneur will have three Big Island screenings early next month.
The showings are: Palace Theater in Hilo on Thursday, May 2; Honokaa People’s Theater on Friday, May 3; and Aloha Theater in Kainaliu on Thursday, May 9.
Kahumoku and special guests will appear for intimate performances at the screenings. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with live music, followed by the film at 7:30 p.m. There are also slack key and ukulele workshops for ticket holders prior to the shows.
