A late rally couldn’t make up for a bad beginning for the University of Hawaii baseball team.
The Warriors’ Patrick O’Rourke lost his first career start, an 8-6 setback Tuesday night at Fresno State.
Hawaii catcher Tyler Podratz equaled career highs with three hits and four RBIs, but the Warriors (11-31) fell 20 games below .500, tying their low mark of the season.
Aaron Judge was 3 for 4 with a two-run home run in the sixth inning for the Bulldogs (17-29) and Kevin Viers collected three doubles and drove in two runs.
Both teams used four pitchers.
O’Rourke (0-2) lasted two innings, giving up a two-run home run to Trent Garrison in the second inning.
Starter Tyler Linehan (2-7) pitched three scoreless innings for Fresno State.
Podratz fueled a rally in the seventh with a three-run double, Marc Flores and Kalei Hanawahine each had two hits and scored twice and Kaeo Aliviado had two hits and scored a run.
Hawaii brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth, but Tim Borst nailed down the save by striking out Adam Hurley.
UH returns to Big West play Friday at Long Beach State.
