George William Baker, 96, of Waikoloa, died May 25 at his residence. Born in Lincoln, Ne., he was a retired teacher and counselor for School District 7 in Grants Pass, Ore., a member of Imiola Congregational Church in Waimea and a World War II Army veteran. Benjamin “Benny” Joseph Botelho, 84, of Halaula died May 17 at Queen’s Medical Center. Born in Kohala, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army in the Korean War with the final rank of sergeant first class; a heavy equipment mechanic for the Kohala Sugar Company, and self employed; and a member of the Kohala Senior Citizens Club. Survived by son, Haven Botelho of Halaula; sister, Sharon Botelho of Halaula; sisters-in-law, Sandra Botelho, Bonnie Botelho of Halaula; brother-in-law, Bob Morikawa of Honolulu; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Teruto “Terry” Tsubota, 90, of Okinawa died May 22 at Garden Isle Health Care hospice facility. Born in Pahoa, he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the Okinawa Campaign. He retired from the U.S. Department of Defense in Okinawa after 46 years of government service.
