William “Bill” Bernard Rourke Jr., 86, of Kailua-Kona died Dec. 2 at Hospice of Kona Nakamaru Hale in Holualoa. Born in Chicago, he was a professor of aerospace science at Metropolitan State University in Denver, retired U.S. Marine Corps aviator and Vietnam War veteran, U.S. Navy submariner during the Korean War, founding member of Evergreen and Mountain Foothills chapters of Rotary International and member of Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. Service at noon Thursday, Dec. 28, at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery. No flowers. Memorial donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
