Dwight Mitsuyoshi Sumida, 71, of Hilo died Dec. 14 at The Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu. Born in Pahala, he was a retired associate professor of animal science for the University of Hawaii at Hawaii Community College, former assistant coach to Jimmy Yagi for the University of Hawaii at Hilo Vulcans men’s basketball team and member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin and Anela Nani Subdivision Kumiai. Visitation 2-4 p.m. Sunday (Jan. 7) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Memorial service at 4 p.m. Casual attire, no flowers.
