A Hawaii Electric Light Co. spokeswoman says power has been restored after a tree was removed from transmission lines in Ainaloa.
The outage affected 11,700 customers, mostly in Puna.
HELCO spokeswoman Rhea Lee-Moku said an albizia tree being cut by a tree trimmer on private land fell the wrong way and hit the lines at 9:59 a.m.
About 10 minutes later, lines were switched and power was restored to about 8,100 customers. Power has since been restored to the remaining customers, she said.
