Junior golf: Yanagi, Uchida bag mixed team title

Kamehameha senior Pono Yanagi and Waiakea sophomore Lacey Uchida claimed the Hawaii State Junior Golf Championship on Sunday at Poipu Bay on Kauai.

The Hilo duo put together a 72 on Saturday in four-ball stroke play and a 74 in foursomes a day later to finish at 2-over, earning a one-shot victory over a tandem from Oahu.

Waiakea junior Aidan Oki and Maui’s Lana Calibuso-Kwee were seventh at 13-over and the Big Island duo of Kailey Oki (Waiakea) and Ethan Hironaga (Hilo High) were 12th at 21-over.
