The Waimea Ocean Film Festival will present special family screenings of David Attenborough’s “Natural History Museum Alive” at 1 p.m. Jan. 16 and 10 a.m. Jan. 19 at the Thelma Parker Memorial Public and School Library in Waimea.
The screenings, which are free and open to the public, are part of library’s NASA@My Library initiative to enhance STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) learning opportunities for public audiences nationwide with the excitement of NASA exploration and discovery.
In a special collaboration with experts and curators from the museum, and using groundbreaking CGI technology, Attenborough explores the Natural History Museum in London after dark, when the exhibitions come to life.
As night falls, Attenborough meets the extinct creatures that fascinate him the most, as they magically come alive — dinosaurs, ice age beasts and giant reptiles.
“We’re looking forward to sharing this film as part of the work the Thelma Parker library does for the community,” said Tania Howard, founder and director of the Waimea Ocean Film Festival.
“We’re delighted to have this opportunity to work with the Waimea Ocean Film Festival,” said Pamela Akao, library branch manager. “Children and their families are sure to enjoy this film.”
