Phone services in the Ka‘u and South Kona districts have been interrupted after a break in the fiber system, according a release from Hawaii County Civil Defense. The outage began Sunday at about 4:30 p.m.
Hawaii Telcom says there is no telephone service in Pahala, Naalehu, Ocean View and parts of Kona. Crews are working to repair the system.
The police department requests that residents go to the nearest district station for assistance.
