Alameda named new Bay Clinic CEO

The Bay Clinic Board of Directors appointed Dr. C. Kimo Alameda to serve as its chief executive officer beginning Sept. 9.

Alameda, currently serving as executive director of the Hawaii County Office of Aging, has more than 15 years of executive experience in state and county government and has consulted with Federally Qualified Health Centers and hospitals statewide to improve their cultural competency and patient experience.

With his strong ties to the community, Alameda is uniquely qualified to help Bay Clinic form strategic partnerships with other medical and social service providers to create a coordinated system of health in East Hawaii.

“We are privileged to have someone of Dr. Alameda’s caliber join us at this critical moment in Bay Clinic’s evolution,” said chairman of the Bay Clinic board Kay Daub. “With his deep understanding of systemic health care challenges, our patient population and our community, he will bring leadership which will renew our organization and the value we bring to the community.”

Alameda is a graduate of St. Joseph High School and earned his doctorate in psychological, educational and cultural studies from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He also is a licensed psychologist, teaches at Hawaii Community College, coaches basketball at Hilo High School and has his own youth athletic program. He and his wife, Star, have seven children.

“I am humbled to be part of an organization that has a history of proven success in providing quality primary and preventative care services to over 21,000 people in nine unique geographic sites throughout East Hawaii,” Alameda said.

Alameda will replace Harold Wallace, who resigned in April. The board extends its appreciation to Youlsau Bells for overseeing Bay Clinic as interim CEO.
